Too old for a working holiday? Not necessarily…

19 Mar 2013 / 0 Comments / in News/by admin

Work visas to New Zealand for 35 year olds.

One of the best kept secrets in the world of work abroad is the IEP Work Exchange Visa for New Zealand. It has an upper age limit of 35 years old and you can apply even if you’ve had a traditional Working Holiday Visa. If you thought you’d missed the boat – think again, but think quickly.

The final quota of IEP Work Exchange Visas for 2013, (for British and Irish citizens aged between 18 and 35)  is available exclusively from BUNAC, the work and volunteer abroad company. However, they are available on a first come first served basis, and the last few visas for this year are expected to be snapped up within the next two weeks. (A new quota of IEP visas will be made available in January 2014.)

The compulsory BUNAC service (Work New Zealand Essentials) includes assistance with visa applications, work and travel advice before you go and comprehensive help & support in New Zealand. The Work New Zealand package costs £324; the IEP visa costs an additional £165 which includes a £30 administration fee. Its not cheap and you may not need all of the services, but for most its a chance that they didn’t think they had and therefore worth every penny!

For further information on the IEP Work Exchange Visa visit BUNAC. For more information regarding other work visas visit our Working Holiday Visas page.

Melbourne – the place to be!

15 Mar 2013 / 0 Comments / in News/by admin

The first Formula 1 Grand Prix of the 2013/14 season gets under way this weekend. Practice sessions are completed and drivers and teams are preparing for Qualifying.

However, rather than bang on about cars, we thought we’d focus on some of the other great reasons to visit Melbourne.

Melbourne is one of the most culturally rich and diverse cities in Australia. Its compact city centre means you are never far from the action. There is a vibrant night life; live music in pubs is the norm, there are comedy clubs and music festivals a plenty and when its time to relax you can choose from any number of beautiful parks, or take a short tram ride to the beach resort of St Kilda. If you are looking to eat out you’ll find fantastic Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian and Chinese food to name just a few. Where Sydney is considered the the heart of Australia, Melbourne definitely has the soul!

There really is something for everyone in Melbourne which is why we think it should be in the top ten cities for a working holiday.

Oh, and if you like your sport, Melbourne is the Aussie destination; here’s a selection of international events hosted in Melbourne. Make sure you’re in town to join in the spectacle:

  • March: Formula 1 Grand Prix, one of the most exciting road race events around the city.
  • June: Lions Rugby, the 2nd Test will take place in Melbourne
  • October: Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, Phillip Island.
  • November: Melbourne Cup horse race. A public holiday for a horse race – only in Australia!
  • December: Boxing Day Test Match, cricket. A Melbourne tradition and a great day out.
  • January: Australian Tennis Open; one of the key Grand-Slam events.

If you’re travelling down-under this year make sure you include a visit to Melbourne. Visit these pages to find out more about visas and finding work.

Best job in the World?

05 Mar 2013 / 0 Comments / in News/by admin

Do you remember the Best Job in the World? A marketing stunt by Tourism Australia where they recruited a caretaker for an idyllic island and gave away a ridiculous salary?

Well, they’re at it again, but this time they are offering 6 positions, each worth AUS$100,000 (check their T&C’s for specifics). The competition is being advertised at the following website and this is sure to go viral in no time. They’ll be lots of entrants, but some one has to win.

For specific information go to their website:

https://bestjobs.australia.com/

Closes on 10th April. Good luck!
