We have an update for those of you waiting for news on the International Experience Canada visa.
The Canadian High Commission (UK) website has been updated. They advise that the programme will open before 1st February (although still no fixed date). They have also included some preliminary guidelines regarding the application process.
It will be in two stages, both online:
The first is an assessment to determine eligibility using an “IEC-Kompass” account. This is reviewed by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.
The second will be a Work Permit Assessment, also online using a “MyCIC account”. This part of the process is reviewed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (hence CIC).
For clarity, whilst International Experience Canada is often referred to as a visa, it is technically a work permit. Once you receive the official work permit you are able to travel to Canada and on arrival the immigration officer will issue your visa.
